Embracing the 90/10 Model
At LEEP America, we believe in and embrace the 90/10 dual language immersion model. Years of research demonstrate it is one of the most effective methods for fostering bilingualism, biliteracy, biculturalism and academic achievement. Studies show that this model not only helps students excel in core academic subjects but also promotes higher cognitive skills, such as problem-solving and adaptability.
Building Strong Foundations in Two Languages
In the 90/10 approach, 90% of instruction is delivered in the target (non-English) language in early grades, gradually balancing to 50/50 by later grades. This immersion builds strong linguistic and cultural foundations while supporting English language acquisition. Contrary to deficit-based views, we believe bilingualism is a strength that enriches students’ lives and empowers communities. Dual language education is not just an instructional strategy—it’s a commitment to equity, excellence, and opportunity for all learners.
